Getting to the Miho Museum is an adventure: you have to walk along a promenade lined with weeping cherry trees, pass through a tunnel, and finally cross a bridge!

 
Nestled deep in the lush nature of Shiga Prefecture’s Shigaraki mountains, it is a unique space that mixes manmade art and nature, with the entrance hall opening on a view of mountains rolling into the distance.

The museum features two wings: the South Wing, showcasing a permanent collection of ancient civilisation art from Egypt, Greece and all over the world, and the North Wing, where seasonally themed exhibitions are held.
