Egypt, a country linking northeast Africa with the Middle East, dates to the time of the pharaohs

Egypt
Millennia-old monuments sit along the Nile River Valley, including Giza's colossal Pyramids and Great Sphinx as well as Luxor's hieroglyph-lined Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings tombs.

The capital, Cairo, is home to Ottoman landmarks like Muhammad Ali Mosque and the Egyptian Museum, a trove of antiquities.

During 2022, Egypt is marking :
  • the centenary of the discovery of the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun, one of the greatest archaeological discoveries, and
  • the two hundred anniversary of the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone.
  • In addition, 2022 will see the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza.
To support this the hotel capacity around the museum is being increased with new road networks linking the museum with other sites in Cairo and Fayoum City.

For the traveller, Egypt also offers desert, with plenty of oases and lodges and projects such as new touristic cities in New Alamein on the Mediterranean coast and Galala City on the mountains in Suez Governorate.
