The Slow Food Earth Maitland is a first in Australia and is the 60th Earth market in the Global network that is part of the work of Slow Food. Slow Food is a global grassroots organisations that work to protect food biodiversity and believes in the philosophy of Good Clean and Fair food for all.
The Earth market brings together farmers from the local region and helps to build capacity and encourage young farmers to grow food and supply the community to ensure food security and for good health.
Maitland is situated on the Hunter River and is easily accessible from Newcastle and Sydney (approximately 1.5 hours by car) and is connected by rail and bus services. It is the gateway to the famous wine grown region situated 40 minutes from Maitland.
