Staging Connections partners with Hyatt Regency Sydney for stunning opening event

Staging Connections partnered with Hyatt Regency Sydney on Thursday 9th March, to wow 300 VIP guests at its official opening, showcasing the outstanding services the world-class venue has to offer in the events space.

Providing a truly sensory experience, Staging Connections worked closely with Hyatt Regency Sydney as their event services partner to introduce the venue as Australia’s largest upscale hotel. A dazzling cocktail event showcased the Grand Ballroom, a space capable of hosting 1000 guests, using world-class AV technology to create a space of intrigue and delight, full of energising experiences.

The Grand Ballroom reflected the stylish Hyatt brand and ‘hive’ logo and demonstrated the flexibility and versatility of the massive space. Multiple custom hexagons hung high above guests with projected images flowing from one hexagon to the next adding elegant movement and flow to the room. Decorative scenic panels added texture to the various stage environments, with the centre stage playing host to whimsical features with stunning projection mapping on a grand piano.

Tim Morgan, General Manager – Strategic Partnerships – Staging Connections, said the event was a huge success for the newly appointed event services team.

"The team really went above and beyond, providing all audio visual, theming, digital products, projection mapping, lighting, additional room features and a special request Kombi Van dessert area. We were thrilled with the results and are excited to showcase more premier events in the future," said Mr Morgan.

Chris Lewis, Event Director – Staging Connections was equally delighted with the event.

"This was no ordinary event, not only was it the opening event for Hyatt Regency Sydney but special guests included Hyatt’s Global CEO and President, Mr Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt VPs from the USA and prominent Australian and Asian figures; meaning this event needed to be executed flawlessly," said Mr Lewis.

The evening’s entertainment included five aerial acrobatic performers in a specially designed routine, using the newly installed dynamic rigging points, as well as entertainment by an indigenous fusion act, and music from MC, singer and radio personality, David Campbell. Unique kitchen stations provided guests with culinary wonders, from a 50kg Tuna carved on demand, to a delicate cheese tasting station; while drinks came in the form of a cocktail function, providing an exciting exploration of flavour.

Malcolm Zancanaro, General Manager - Hyatt Regency Sydney commented on this new partnership.

"We welcome the opportunity to work with Staging Connections as our event partner offering services beyond audio-visual and technical services. They provide engaging event solutions and have a global reputation for delivering high-quality meeting and event experiences.

"This partnership builds on our commitment to delivering an enhanced customer experience at Hyatt Regency Sydney for our client’s functions, conferences and meetings," said Mr Zancanaro.

Hyatt Regency Sydney has undergone a $250 million redevelopment and transformation to become the largest premium hotel in Australia. Staging Connections has secured a new hotel partnership with Hyatt Regency Sydney as their in-house event services partner.
