NCHA FUTURITY LAUNCHES IN TAMWORTH

The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) annual Futurity kicks off in less than two weeks in Tamworth and entries are at an all-time high, with many people putting their hand up for a chance to take home a share of the $700,000 in prize money up for grabs.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said, “As Australia’s richest cutting horse event, – and one which saw close to 3,000 visitors from outside the region come to Tamworth last year, the event showcases Tamworth and the fantastic facilities at the Australian Equine & Livestock Events Centre to a large audience."

“The NSW Government is a proud supporter of this event, through our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, as a key fixture on the NSW events calendar," Mr Anderson said.

Tamworth Regional Mayor Col Murray said Council is excited to continue its partnership with the National Cutting Horse Association of Australia and Destination NSW to ensure the Futurity’s success and growth.

NCHA General Manager Greg Sinclair reinforced the event’s widespread and ever-growing appeal to both equine and non-equine enthusiasts.

“It’s unbelievable how much the sport of cutting has grown over the years in Australia. We want to make it known to everyday people that they can participate in cutting too - this sport is not just for professionals,” Mr Sinclair said.

The 2014 NCHA Imax Gold Tamarang Futurity takes place from 28 May – 8 June at the Australian Equine & Livestock Events Centre Tamworth.
