Director of VietArt Media Company Le Nguyen Phuong Thao said that the contest will last for five nights, of which three would be for firework displays and two as water music nights.
The Da Nang Foreign Affairs Department confirmed that two consultancy companies - Global 2000 from Malaysia and Simmetrico Network from Italy - will participate in the event.
Simmetrico Network also proposed to build a fireworks launching platform on the Han River and instal larger stands along the river banks.
Da Nang is the only city in Viet Nam to host the annual competition since 2008, but it is scheduled to organise it biennially from 2013.
Last year, Melrose Pyrotechnics of the US won first prize.
