Norway is receiving a surge in visitation with the popularity of Frozen, the animated movie from Disney. The awe-inspiring landscapes of Norway are reaching out to the imagination of the travellers who are packing their bags and heading out to the dream destination. Making a box office hit the movie has contributed to the true sense of entertainment.
Ever since its release in November, the spokesman for Visit Norway in the U.S. Harald Hansen said that from last November and December they started marketing Norway with Disney, the huge increase of visitors from the U.S. is more than conspicuous. Booked hotel nights have grown up 37 percent for the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2013. He added that tour operators have also seen a 40 percent sales increase this year, compared to the same period last year, while Oslo Airport Gardermoen reported a 57 percent increase in arrivals from New York for the first quarter.
Maximum traffic is seen in the fjord region, Oslo Northern Norway and of course the biggest draw comes for the northern lights, which appears in every movie and is a great hit with tourist. Seeing the trend direct flights have been started from Oslo to The airport closest to Disney Land, Orlando, Florida.
Tour companies are planning to encash on the surge that Disney has created. Disney on its own part is planning tours for more than $5,000 a person, to places that include Geirangerfjord, inspired from the film fantasy Arendelle. Disney is also planning a cruise trip to Norway in 2015. Wilderness Travel another travel company is making the best of the popularity that was so engaging in the lifelike landscapes of Norway in the movie. Passenger inflow has doubled feels the company after the animated film.
Many American mothers find their children fascinated by Norway after watching Frozen and are keen on visiting Norway on their next holiday.
