2014 LGNSW Tourism Conference

Registrations for the 2014 LGNSW Tourism Conference close on Monday 24 February 2014.

The Conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley from Monday 10 to Wednesday 12 March, and will be co-hosted by Cessnock City Council. The theme of the Conference is ‘Harvesting the Value of Tourism’.

Informative site visits will explore the Hunter Reinvention, including:
  • A bus tour of some of the 54 outdoor murals within Kurri Kurri and surrounds
  • A tour of the Wollombi’s Convict Trail Project to understand how heritage can be part of the tourism experience
  • A Hunter Valley delights tour featuring tastings at both the Hunter Olive Centre and Chocolate Company, and a sparkling winery facility tour not generally open to the public. Numbers are limited for each of the site visits, so people are encouraged to register now and select the site visit they wish to attend while completing the online registration form.

The State Your Case! competition will run again at the 2014 Conference. Bland Shire Council’s ‘Sitting on a Rich Heritage and Modern Gold Mine’, Coffs Harbour City Council’s ‘Moving them On…’ and Parramatta City Council’s ‘Briefcases to Backpacks – how can we build and diversify the City’s offer?’ will compete for the $3000 prize to help put their solutions into practice. The competition is sponsored by the Caravan and Camping Industry Association NSW and will be facilitated by Lyndel Gray.
