Tampere Highlights in 2024

Tampere Art Museum
Tampere is a city in southern Finland that is located between the Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi Lakes, with the Tammerkoski rapids in between. 

Sauna culture Claiming status as the Sauna Capital of the World, Tampere has some 60 public saunas in the city and the surrounding region preserving the unique Finnish sauna tradition and highlighting its significance as part of the country’s customs, culture, and well-being. 

Outdoor activities Tampere provides a base, in winter, for cross country skiing, ice skating, outdoor swimming, forest walking and ‘river floating’ in a dry suit.
 
In summer, being sandwiched between two lakes, Tampere offers canoeing, lake cruises and history themed walks. 

There are National Parks close to the city for anyone wanting to combine outdoor activities with a city break and urban attractions. 

National Police Museum

Museums, attractions and culture 

The city has the Hockey Hall of Fame, the National Police Museum, the Finnish Postal Museum, Spy Museum and the Finnish Museum of Games, while the Serlachius Museum has an impressive art collection.

Tampere Biennial 

Tampere Biennial 10 to 14 April 2024

Mänttä Art Festival 2024 Annual (16 June to 31 August 2024) 

The Mänttä Art Festival is the summer’s largest exhibition of contemporary Finnish art with exhibitions and the works displayed in the galleries and public spaces in the historic Finlayson factory area. www.kuvataideviikot.fi/en/ 

Gastronomy 

Tampere Market Hall, the largest market hall in the Nordics offering local delicacies, pastries, cheese, fresh fish and vegetables. There’s also a wide choice of gastropubs, bars and breweries.
