A special ‘Kids Eat Free’ offer is available for stays at Kakadu’s Cooinda Lodge for the months of September and October.
The special promotion includes free breakfasts and dinner for up to two children each day of their stay, including over school holidays. The discount is valued at some $50 per room per night, and the dinner menu includes Kakadu’s famous barramundi, as well as steak, chicken and pasta options.
The special Kids Eat Free offer needs to be booked by 31 July 2023.
With Yellow Water Cruises, Spirit of Kakadu 4WD Adventure Tours, Yellow Water Fishing and the Warradjan Cultural Centre located at Cooinda, and with ‘must-see’ tourism attractions such as the Nourlangie Rock art site and Maguk waterfall and swimming hole within easy driving distance, Cooinda is the perfect base for exploring Australia’s most spectacular landscape and cultural destination.
September and October are part of Kakadu’s ‘Kurrung’ season, with dry hot days and mild nights. It is also the start of Kakadu’s most prolific wildlife season, with millions of birds settling over the drying floodplains.
Kakadu Bird Week (September 28, 2023 – October 3, 2023) is held to coincide with the mass migration of magpie geese, which flock to billabongs, such as Yellow Water (Ngurrungurrudjba), to feed. With the waters having receded toward the end of the dry season, there is no better time to witness not just the birdlife, but Kakadu’s full array of exotic animals, including crocodiles, buffalo, brumbies, and wallabies.
Kakadu Bird Week includes a full range of activities for adults and children, and it is one of the best times to discover and learn all about the unique species of birds living in this magical part of the world, which is dual World Heritage–listed for both its natural and cultural values.
Cooinda is ideal for family stays. The village-style oasis offers 4-star Lodge rooms capable of accommodating up to two adults and two children, and there are also Outback Retreat glamping tents which have a separate annex with bunk beds for two children.
To access the Kids Dine Free special offer, bookings must be made by 31 July and use the promo code KIDS on checkout to activate the special offer.
