Row through a volcanic canyon in Miyazaki Prefecture!

Takachiho Gorge is without a doubt one of Japan’s most distinguished natural landscapes. Formed over 100,000 years ago by ancient lava flows from nearby Mt Aso, visitors can marvel at this natural phenomenon from the wooden observation deck paved along its edge.

For a thrilling and unique experience, hop on a rowboat to get up-close to the 17-metre-high Manai Falls and witness the majestic waterfalls cascading down.

Takachiho Gorge can be accessed from major transportation hubs such as Oita and Miyazaki Stations. From these hubs, head to Nobeoka Station and take a fixed route bus (approx. 90mins) to reach Takachiho.
