MUSIC AND ART COMBINE FOR A TRANSFORMATIVE NIGHT OF STRESS RELIEF AT WONDERDOME

Australia’s largest 360° dome cinema WONDERDOME will complete its Sydney season of ground-breaking entertainment on Sunday 30 January 2022.

There’s no doubt that the start of 2022 has been a stressful one for many, so as a parting gift before the season’s end, on Saturday 29 January, WONDERDOME presents Ekki Hugsa 360°, an immersive audio-visual experience designed to create a meditative atmosphere for audiences.

Based on the music of BAFTA award-winning composer Ólafur Arnalds, with the flowing visuals of designer Torsten Possel, Ekki Hugsa 360° gets its name from the Icelandic phrase that means “don’t think.”

Arnalds and Posselt have been frequent collaborators for a number of years but not until now have they so completely merged their two worlds of the audible and visual. Through Ekki Hugsa 360°, the two artists explore the ways to make music tangible in the physical space and create a calming environment that allows the audience to let go and be present in the moment.

"We’re not trying to make a spectacle but rather to take things down a notch,” says Posselt. “We’re inviting the audience to come with us on a slow journey, a trip into not thinking.”

There’s still plenty of other films screening at WONDEROME before the end of the season including stunning documentaries, vibrant art flicks and during the day on weekends and school holidays, there’s a fun selection af family-friendly films for mini-movie lovers and pint-sized thrill-seekers.

Presented by TEG Live, WONDERDOME is Australia’s largest 360° dome theatre combining fully immersive visuals with leading-edge technologies that dissolve the boundaries between digital and physical to create environments where audiences ‘experience a new reality’.

WONDERDOME takes place at The Entertainment Quarter in Sydney. EQ is a dynamic entertainment, leisure and retail precinct with restaurants, markets, comedy, music and the Fox Studios to enjoy.

Wonderdome is supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW
