Topping-Out at Adelaide's 5-Star Sofitel Hotel

A 'topping-out ceremony' for the $140 million five-star Sofitel Adelaide hotel in the heart of Adelaide's CBD took place yesterday (Tuesday 18 August) to celebrate the hotel reaching its full height.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall joined Palumbo Managing Director Daniel Palumbo at the milestone event on the rooftop of the 32-storey 'Sofitel' luxury hotel and 'Luminesque' apartments.

Daniel Palumbo said the topping-out saw the building take its pride of place in Adelaide's skyline as an indicator of progress in this state.

“The Sofitel is the first internationally recognised five-star hotel to be built in Adelaide in 30 years. It will elevate Adelaide as a world class city capable of attracting world class events, business and tourism.”

“We are extremely proud of the Palumbo team and contractors who have worked tirelessly throughout the project.

“This milestone further proves the capability of the Palumbo team as a significant force in SA construction and delivering large scale projects.”

'Luminesque' includes 69 luxury apartments on the upper eight levels with fantastic views. All are sold but for one three-bedroom apartment.

Simon McGrath, Chief Operating Officer for Accor Pacific, said, “It is an enormous privilege to partner with Palumbo on this project. The Palumbo family are visionary partners who want to deliver the best for South Australian tourism.”

“Sofitel Adelaide will be a truly world-class asset - exuding a refined and understated sense of modern luxury with a touch of Sofitel's renowned French decadence. I couldn't be more thrilled that we've reached this pinnacle construction milestone.

The project has created numerous jobs for the state, employing 1,100 tradespeople, technicians, designers, and artists during construction, which is expected to finish in December.
