A wide variety of traditional folk games from different countries was introduced at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology on May 26-27 as part of activities to mark International Children’s Day.
In joining the program, children had a chance to enjoy the folk games of Viet Nam and other countries, such as hopscotch (India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Viet Nam), mandarin square capturing (Indonesia, Thailand, and Viet Nam), and Capture the Flag (Cambodia, Thailand, and Viet Nam).
The program was led by foreign students who are studying in Viet Nam.
Through the games, children discovered some of the differences and similarities between the games of Viet Nam and other countries. It offered them an opportunity to gain a better insight into the traditional cultures of Viet Nam and regional countries to encourage a respect of their cultural heritages.
