TOURIST ARRIVALS HIT AROUND 1.5 M IN FIVE MONTHS

Till May of this year, the number of tourist arrivals reached around 1.5 million, a 2-per-cent decline compared with the same period last year, according to the figures released by Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

The number of visitors from European countries and the North American countries has dropped over the years due to political situations. But the number of visitors from China, Thailand and some Asian countries has increased.

Thailand topped the list of those who visit the country with visa-on-arrival, with 133,181, followed by China, with 112,158, Japan with 42,301, America with 30,240, South Korea with 28,088, Singapore with 23,397, Vietnam with 23323 and France with 22,377. The number of Thai tourists has increased by 19 per cent and China by 32 per cent.
