How to enjoy Queensland's boutique wine trail: through the eyes of a local

Granite Belt local Leanne Gangemi is the latest hero in a series of Queensland tourism promotional videos, inviting tourists to explore the boutique wines of the region’s Strange Bird Food and Wine Trail.

Produced in partnership between Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) and Southern Queensland Country Tourism (SQCT), the 90-second video shares local secrets in a compelling insight to the region.

TEQ Chief Executive Officer Leanne Coddington said the video was part of a local invitation series showcasing Queensland’s new ‘Find your perfect next’ message.

“Touring the Granite Belt gives visitors so many opportunities to make genuine connections with locals, who each have a story to tell and can add so much to the visitor experience,” Ms Coddington said.

“Leanne’s long-time passion for the region and its wine industry is clear throughout this video which translates into a desire to visit and discover more.

“The video also explains the unique approach of the local industry in creating boutique wines and flavours that most Australians haven’t tried before.

“It is a compelling invitation to escape the city and discover the flavours and landscapes of Southern Queensland Country.”

SQCT Chief Executive Officer Mary Clare Power said Leanne’s family, the Puglisi’s, were a wonderful example of a family business delivering an exceptional experience.

“Food and wine lovers are spoilt for choice when looking for that perfect wine match with more than 25 Strange Bird alternative wine varieties currently grown on the Granite Belt,” she said.

“Come along and meet the winemakers and the families who are passionate about the wine they make, the food they produce and most importantly hear their stories first hand.”

This local invitation video is being promoted together with series of destination blogs targeted to empty nesters and ‘SINKs and DINKs’* in Brisbane and South East Queensland over the next fortnight in a joint campaign funded by TEQ and SQCT.
