The Star Gold Coast to host 2018 Queensland Tourism Awards

STAR GOLD COAST
QUEENSLAND TOURISM’S FINEST WILL BE CELEBRATED IN THE HEART OF THE STATE’S HOLIDAY CAPITAL WITH THE STAR GOLD COAST UNVEILED AS HOST DESTINATION OF THE PRESTIGIOUS QUEENSLAND TOURISM AWARDS FOR 2018.

The sunshine state’s best of the best in tourism will be on show on the Gold Coast next year as the iconic Broadbeach property further cements its reputation as a hotspot for major events on the national and international calendar.

The Star Entertainment Group Managing Director Queensland Geoff Hogg says securing the state’s premier tourism awards night is yet another coup for the city as it enters an exciting new era.

“With tourism a key driver of the Gold Coast, it is only fitting the event move south to our coastal city that has undeniably earnt its reputation of being a crowd favourite for tourists both domestically and internationally alike,” Hogg said.

“WE ARE INCREDIBLY EXCITED TO ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET FOR THE INDUSTRY’S BRIGHTEST STARS AT OUR NEWLY REDEVELOPED INTEGRATED RESORT AS WE CONTINUE TO ELEVATE OUR STATUS AS AN IN-DEMAND EVENTS DESTINATION.”

Operating for 33 years, the Queensland Tourism Awards are hosted and coordinated by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) and acknowledge and showcase the outstanding achievements of the state’s tourism industry, including individuals, businesses and events, across 30 categories.

QTIC Chief Executive Daniel Gschwind said hosting the awards at the Gold Coast in 2018 would be a fitting celebration for the Queensland tourism industry and maintain the momentum of the Commonwealth Games.

“WE’RE EXCITED TO PARTNER WITH THE STAR ENTERTAINMENT GROUP AND BRING THE AWARDS TO THE GOLD COAST – THE ORIGINAL AND QUINTESSENTIAL HOME FOR AUSTRALIAN DESTINATION HOLIDAYS,” HE ADDED.

Mr Gschwind said The Star Entertainment Group was a committed corporate partner of QTIC supporting a number of industry initiatives including partnership of QTIC’s Indigenous tourism and employment programs.

Guests of the event will experience The Star Gold Coast’s newly renovated five-star hotel, refurbished event facilities, multi-award winning restaurants and bars, and the centrepiece of the redevelopment – a luxurious suite hotel with stunning rooftop restaurant, bar and infinity pool set to open within the next few months.

It follows the recent announcement that the Australian television industry’s night of nights, the TV WEEK Logie awards, will be hosted at The Star Gold Coast from July next year under a landmark deal to bring the glittering black-tie event to Queensland.

Hogg says as the first official partner of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, the new home to the Logies and now the Queensland Tourism Awards, the property’s stunning evolution has only just begun.

“2018 IS SHAPING UP TO BE SUCH AN EXCITING AND MONUMENTAL YEAR FOR OUR CITY AND OUR PROPERTY AND RIGHT NOW MORE THAN EVER WE ARE VERY PROUD TO BE PART OF SUCH A DYNAMIC AND SERVICE DRIVEN INDUSTRY,” HE SAID.

The Star Gold Coast continues to deliver on its promise of offering a world-class integrated product to its events and convention clientele both nationally and overseas with exciting new spaces soon to be unveiled.

“Our redevelopment supports our city’s vision of propelling the Gold Coast onto the world stage and this includes a huge focus on the convention, exhibition and events markets,” Hogg said.

“We are looking forward to beginning works on new poolside meeting rooms and an events lawn poolside while 2018 will also see the curtain raised on a refurbished ballroom.”
