BONDI BECOMES NATIONAL SURF RESERVE

Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach is now a National Surfing Reserve (NSR) after being recognised as one of Australia’s top surfing destinations.

NSW Minister for Lands and Forestry Paul Toole said the recognition secured Bondi’s reputation as one of the State’s most valuable Crown assets.

“I’m very pleased that this world-class surf beach has gained the recognition it deserves,” Mr Toole said.

“Bondi is the most visited beach in Australia, and is now the 10th site in NSW to be dedicated as a NSR.

“Since 2006, when Maroubra was named Australia’s first NSR, beaches right along the NSW coast have been recognised for their intrinsic environmental, sporting and cultural value to this country.

“The NSW Government is committed to ensuring all our Crown land reserves, including our wonderful beaches, are managed for the benefit of the community now and into the future.”
