Ride the Longest Outdoor Covered Escalator System in the World!

Experience something new on your Hong Kong trip and check out the longest outdoor escalator system in the world, located in the Central district!

This is a unique collection of escalators and walkways through Hong Kong's Central district on Hong Kong Island. The Mid-Levels Escalator is the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world!

The system, covers over 800-metres in distance, and elevates 135-metres through the streets of a steep hillside, providing a better commute by linking nearby hilly areas within Central District.

Officially opened on 15 October 1993, the system is not a single continuous escalator, rather a series of 20 escalators and 3 inclined moving walkways connected in places by footbridges.

With 14 entrances and exits, it links Queen’s Road Central with Conduit Road, passing through narrow streets and carries more than 85,000 people on a daily basis.

To ride the complete length of the escalator system one-way takes about 20-25 minutes.
