NEW SEA-LION PUP AT TARONGA

Taronga Zoo Sydney has welcomed the birth of an endangered species - a male Australian sea-lion pup named Moby, who has made his debut splash at Taronga’s Seal Cove.

Moby was born in October to mother Lexie and father Charlie, and has gradually built his swimming confidence, graduating to a larger pool where visitors can now watch him diving and playing.

The sea-lion pup joins a host of baby animals born at Taronga Zoo Sydney this year. Visitors can see Mwamba the baby western lowland gorilla, spot a new tiny baby chimp carried by mother Ceres, keep a lookout for a koala joey and watch the cute Asian elephant calf Jai Dee splash and play in the pools of the elephant paddock.

Also new to Taronga this year is the immersive Tiger Trek experience, featuring four Sumatran big cats, which is free with zoo entry.

Taronga Zoo Sydney is open every day of the year, New Year’s Day.
