Thirteen provinces will participate in the 2015 Central Region Ethnic Groups Cultural Day, scheduled to be held in Nghe An in Vietnam from May 17 to 19, said the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The thirteen central provinces comprise Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.
Themed ‘Ethnic Groups in the Central Region - United, Preserving and Promoting National Cultural Identity - Contributing to Sustainable Development of the Nation’, the event aims to raise the awareness of people, especially younger generations, to preserve and uphold the nation’s traditional cultural values, consolidate solidarity among Vietnamese ethnic groups, especially those in the central region, and popularise images of the country and people.
During the cultural days, each ethnic group will present their distinctive cuisine, cultural features and traditional products.
Other activities such as an art programme, cultural exchanges, folk games and festivals of each ethnic group will also take place.
