Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour Only 12 Months Away From Launching Sydney's Most Exciting Hotel & Convention Venue

Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour, together with owner M&L Hospitality, reports its AUD$200 million redevelopment, which is spearheading the revitalisation of Darling Harbour, is on-track and set to open in 12 months' time.

The project, which features 4,800sqm of convention, meeting and event space, will see the hotel expand with an additional third tower, adding 222 new guestrooms to its current portfolio, bringing the total number of rooms to 905.

Scheduled for completion by May 2016 for the convention space and August 2016 for the third tower, the updated hotel will also include a contemporary lobby area, offering new bar and restaurant concepts and design elements with sandstone accents, in keeping with the property's heritage and the Four Points by Sheraton brand.

Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour's General Manager, David Fraser says, “We are excited to be only 12 months away from opening and the good progress we have seen on the ground gives confidence to convention and meeting planners that we will be offering a world-class convention and exhibition space in the heart of Sydney by May 2016.”

David added: “This additional convention space will help address the reduction of event facilities in the CBD area during the remake of Sydney's Convention and Exhibition Centre, ensuring Sydney is the number one choice for large scale events in the Asia-Pacific region.”

The expansive convention and exhibition space will feature floor to ceiling glass to maximise natural light and uninterrupted water views of Darling Harbour. The first-rate facilities will include two pillar-less ballrooms, the largest with seating up to 1,100 theatre-style, breakout and meeting rooms, dedicated pre-function space and state-of-the-art audio visual technology. Bar Eleven, Four Points by Sheraton Sydney's open rooftop bar, with breathtaking views over the harbour, will continue to operate and provide guests with an alternative outdoor venue for special occasions, meetings and events.

This new development phase follows the unveiling of a AUD$30 million renovation, completed in 2013, which included the refurbishment of guestrooms, introducing a new Premium Room category, enhancements to the Corn Exchange Restaurant and Grand Ballroom, and the introduction of four new Heritage Meeting Rooms, providing meeting planners with contemporary, warehouse-style spaces in the city centre.

Ideally located on Sussex Street overlooking the vibrant Darling Harbour precinct, Four Points by Sheraton, Sydney, Darling Harbour, is Australia's largest hotel offering a current total of 648 rooms, including 17 suites, along with simple comforts and exceptional experiences at a great price in the heart of Sydney.

Following the redevelopment Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour will offer:
  • 905 guest rooms, including 29 suites and some with balconies
  • 4,800 sqm of new convention, meeting and event space
  • A total of 23 spaces for both large and intimate meetings and events
