Festival Illuminates National Capital

Enlighten will breathe light, colour and movement into Canberra after dark as the event returns in spectacular style for its fifth year.

Enlighten's signature architectural projections will transform the grand buildings of the national capital's Parliamentary Triangle from Friday 27 February to Saturday 7 March.

On the festival's showcase nights – Friday 27 February, Saturday 28 February, Friday 6 March and Saturday 7 March – the Parliamentary Triangle will be transformed into a vibrant and bold performance precinct with free entertainment set against a backdrop of stunning architectural projections that shine a light on some of Australia's most iconic attractions.

A selection of Canberra's cultural institutions within the Parliamentary Triangle will open their doors after dark, allowing exclusive access to a fascinating selection of collections, exhibitions and galleries.

Each night the whole family can experience a range of free and ticketed events as 12 of the capital's finest cultural institutions offer up a creative program of events encompassing comedy, dining, art, music and a host of surprising experiences.

This year's program also sees the exciting addition of the Enlighten Night Noodle Markets, creating a bustling atmosphere in the heart of the event with an array of authentic Asian eats, themed bars and live music.

As the lights go on across the Parliamentary Triangle, visitors will tuck into fun, authentic Asian eats, from dumplings to dosa, pad Thai to gyoza. For 10 nights from Friday 27 February to Sunday 8 March, the Enlighten Night Noodle Markets will see up to 25 hawker style food stalls operating in the Enlighten precinct between Reconciliation Place and Commonwealth Place, including the hugely popular Gelato Messina.

The markets will showcase the essence of the Canberra region food and wine experience within Enlighten's vibrant event hub which features roving performers and bars and a backdrop of iconic national attractions with spectacular architectural light projections and surprising after dark events and experiences.

As the first autumn leaves begin to fall, let Enlighten surprise you with unique celebration of culture and creativity to mark the International Year of Light.
