The 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit took place at Yanqi Lake month, with both the lake area and its new hotel properties opening to much acclaim.

The surrounding venues, including the Yanqi Lake International Convention Center, and the Sunrise Kempinski Hotel – which CNN recently posited as “the most incredible hotel to open this year” – will be open to the public in the coming year.

Yanqi Lake is located less than 40 miles from Beijing’s city center, but offer all the attractions of an incredible scenic spot with world-class offerings ideal for tourism, conventions and exhibitions.

The Sunrise Kempinski Hotel in particular is an unforgettable site, with its orb-like structure covered in more than 10,000 glass panels that catch and reflect the colors of the surrounding sky, mountains and lake.

It is also lit at night by hydroelectric-powered LED lights and the property complex offers 14 restaurants and bars, 12 boutique hotels, two spas, a marina, and more.

With other scenic spots, tourist attractions and activities including boat rides being offered at Yanqi Lake, the area is sure to become a popular destination within China.
