Increase in foreign tourists to Vietnam in January

The number of foreign tourists is estimated at 722,349 for January 2014, an increase of 7.5 percent since December 2013, according to the General Statistics Office. This is a 21 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The amount of Russian tourists rose 89 percent year-on-year, Chinese tourists increase 87 percent year-on-year , and German tourists increased 58 percent year-on-year.

This year, the country’s tourism industry is expected to welcome more than 8 million foreign visitors.

In January, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed around 382,000 foreign tourists, up 12 percent year-on-year. The number of tourists flying in was estimated at 300,000, up 10 percent year-on-year, and the number of tourists entering by land and sea are 82,000, up 20 percent.
