El Nido and Other Philippine Sites Gaining Importance in World Market

According to tourism officials, El Nido and other parts of Palawan are getting extraordinary interest in the world market. The exclusive ecological balance of El Nido municipality, spearheaded by the four El Nido Resorts (ENR), is one of the most attractive destinations that are being supported by the Department of Tourism to international key markets.

El Nido Resorts won the highly esteemed Tourism for Tomorrow Awards (TTA), the “Oscars” of global ecotourism awards earlier in the year. Winners of TTA demonstrate remarkably well that they can successfully balance their commitments to profitabililty, to uphold environmental best practices and to profit local communities that host them. The four resorts were jointly recognized for “demonstrating the power of tourism to address poverty alleviation, progress local livelihood, and protect the cultural and natural heritage for future generations.” The pride of place was established by ENR staff as well, who are well trained, combined with outstanding guest service levels, with 95% guest-satisfaction rating.

Ramon Jimenez Jr., Tourism Secretary, stated, “Tourism is one of the government’s priorities in pushing for the national agenda of inclusive socioeconomic development, and this has helped the country earn unprecedented global interest for its many tourist destinations, such as El Nido, Palawan.”
