Cambodia is focusing on boosting its human resource development to achieve the 7 to 7.5 million tourist arrival target by 2020, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
Tourism Ministry’s Secretary of State Tit Chantha said the country is making every effort to further develop the tourism sector in light of the establishment of the Asean Economic Community in 2015.
To reach the goal Cambodia needs to train between 30,000 to 40,000 employees in the tourism industry every year with the aim of raising workforce numbers from the current 350,000 to 800,000 by 2020.
The Cambodian government has been coordinating with local and European Union (EU) organisations in training 1,500 professionals in the tourism field within the next three years.
