China Eastern To Build $2 Billion Base At New Beijing Airport

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently approved plans for China Eastern Airlines to build a $2 billion base for a new airport servicing Beijing.

Once completed, the airport will vie for the title of world’s largest.

According to the NDRC, 30% of the investment will be made by China Eastern, with the balance to be covered by domestic bank loans.

The first phase of construction for the airport is expected to be complete by 2019, with a service capacity of 45 million passengers.
