A calligraphy exhibition has kicked off at the Temple of Literature as part of activities to celebrate Vietnam's Cultural Heritage Day (November 23).

A calligraphy exhibition entitled Net Dan Thanh (Red and Green Brushstroke) has opened at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, featuring 60 artworks by 16 calligraphers arranged in combination with light technology.

The works on display are rich and varied in style, showing the skillful way of painting words on paper.

Curator Nguyen Thanh Tung said the event was based on the idea of bringing a contemporary touch to calligraphy, which is usually considered a classical art.

The exhibition offered visitors a modern perspective on the art of calligraphy by displaying calligraphic works in harmony with light, bringing new colors and beauty to the ancient discipline.

For the calligraphers, it is a new way of doing things and giving a new emotion to the works.

Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam Cultural and Scientific Activities Center, hoped that the exhibition would serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for calligraphers, especially young people, to create more innovative works in the future, thus contributing to the promotion of calligraphy activities in particular and cultural activities in general at the Temple of Literature.

The exhibition will run until November 30.
