Advice for visitors on travel to Britain in 2019

Following the recent Brexit developments, we’ve produced advice for visitors on travel to Britain in 2019 and beyond.

Britain is packed full of amazing experiences all year round and 2019 is going to be no exception. From sporting events to literary celebrations, from music festivals to new gallery openings, visitors to Britain during 2019 are in for a cultural extravaganza.

Britain continues to provide a world-class experience and welcome for the millions of visitors who travel here each year.

The UK government has set out detailed plans confirming protection for flights in a no deal scenario. EU no deal aviation regulation is also about to be finalised to ensure UK airlines can continue to operate to Europe and contingency measures provide industry and holidaymakers with the certainty they need and ensure flights will continue after Brexit. Please visit the UK government website for the further advice.

EU nationals

EU nationals will be able to continue to travel on ID cards until 2021. It is recommended that visitors who are citizens of current EU Member States and who have a valid passport use the e-gates to make entry quick and easy. Visitors who are citizens of current EU member states will continue to be able to travel without a visa. This will continue to be the case even if the UK leaves the EU without a deal. Please check the UK government website for further advice.

Other nationals
From June 2019, citizens of the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Singapore and South Korea will be permitted to use e-gates at UK airports and at Eurostar terminals. This will significantly reduce queues and improve the flow of passengers and the overall experience at the UK border

Landing cards will also begin to be abolished from June 2019. This will reduce bureaucracy for travellers and speed up the processing of passengers on arrival in the UK

The UK Government announced two new deals, in November 2018, between the UK and Canada and the United States to ensure transatlantic flights will continue between North America and the UK following Brexit. The UK’s hotels, shops and visitor attractions are also offering great value so it really is a great time to book a trip right now. We look forward to welcoming you to Britain soon.
