“Harako-Meshi” or “Salmon-roe Rice”

In Miyagi prefecture, a famous fall gourmet dish is called “Harako-Meshi” or “Salmon-roe Rice”.
On top of the fluffy rice boiled together with salmon stock, sparkling salted salmon roe and seasonal salmon is put in this famous dish. You can enjoy the exquisite taste of this dish only in Watari Town, Miyagi.

This time, we tried ‘Harako-Meshi” at “Sakanaya Hide” located in the bustling Arahama shopping street. The meal was served with Harako-Meshi, miso soup, egg custard and gorgeous seasonal Japanese sweets. The salmon roe was luxuriously placed on top and we were completely satisfied.

If you happen to come to Miyagi prefecture during the fall period, please make sure to try out Harako-Meshi for yourself.

Address: 6-34 Watari-cho, Watari-gun, Miyagi
*located inside the Arahama shopping plaza.
Access: 15 minutes by car from the ‘Watari I.C” of the Sendaitōbudōro.
