Exclusively created for Vivid Sydney, the bespoke mural will be one of his largest yet, at 44 metres high and 28 metres wide.
Sydneysiders and visitors alike can see it come to life at 309 George Street, where Fairey will continue to live-paint the artwork into the weekend. Fairey has completed over 70 public murals worldwide. This is his first in Australia.
In addition to the mural, Fairey’s fine artwork will be showcased at a newly announced exhibition, Printed Matters, at a pop-up gallery in Chippendale, on view from tomorrow until Sunday, 9 July.
A selection of Fairey’s music-themed works, showcasing his revolutionary visual language and passion for the culture of music, is also being exhibited as part of Vivid Sydney until 17 June at Darling Quarter.
Shepard Fairey will appear in conversation with award-winning ABC journalist Monique Schafter at the Vivid Ideas Game-Changer Talk Series tomorrow evening at 7pm at Sydney Town Hall.
