Mt Buller grabbed the prize of first resort in Victoria to open for twilight skiing and snowboarding on Friday night, when Blue Bullet chairlift rolled for the first time in the 2017 season.
A free Twilight skiing session held on Bourke Street under lights saw hundreds of happy skiers, boarders and sightseers enjoying first turns for the season in calm and clear conditions. Nearly half a metre of natural and manmade snow blanketed the run, the result of several days of natural snowfall and snow-making in ideal conditions.
Mt Buller Resort Management Group Marketing Manager Gill Dobson took a quick break from the slopes to say, “This is an amazing start to the season, and a whole extra week of skiing for our guests. We look forward to welcoming everyone to enjoy these bonus days on the runs. There’s even more snow on the forecast so next weekend’s official opening weekend festivities are set to go off with a bang, giving guests even more reason to celebrate.”
Bourke Street is open for skiing across the weekend and next week with the Blue Bullet lift and Bourke Street Beginners carpet in operation from 9am - 5pm daily, with lift tickets available online or in resort.
Beginner "Discover" lessons commence at the Ski & Snowboard School from Saturday morning.
