The event will showcase a variety of arts, crafts and local produce together with vintage car displays and family activities including pony rides, sheep shearing, a reptile show and face painting.
The atmosphere will be festive with live folk music and local history group members roaming Hartley Historic Site in full colonial costume.
Hartley Historic Site Manager Steve Ring said the event provides a wonderful opportunity to learn about Australian history ‘on location’ and is a perfect excuse to visit and explore the region.
“If you’re coming from Sydney, travel up the Great Western Highway and see the Blue Mountains, spend the day with us at Back to Hartley, then drive into Lithgow and head home via the Bells Line of Road through the Hawkesbury to experience the World Heritage Area from a very different perspective,’’ Mr Ring said.
Voted Lithgow’s best community event in 2015, Back to Hartley will take place on Sunday 30 October.
