TICKETS ON SALE FOR EGYPTIAN MUMMIES EXHIBITION

The mysterious rituals and practices of securing passage to the afterlife will soon be revealed at a world premiere exhibition at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum.

Tickets are now on sale to Egyptian Mummies: Exploring Ancient Lives, which will be on display from 10 December until April 2017.

The exhibition includes six mummies who lived and died in Egypt between 1800 and 3000 years ago, alongside their 3D CT scan visualisations that unlock the secrets of mummification.

Using the latest technology, curators and researchers have been able to go beyond the wrappings to discover what lies beneath – from members of the religious elite to a two-year-old child – and virtually explore the lives of six ancient Egyptians.

NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said, “The Egyptian Mummies are travelling to Australia for the first time and their secrets have been hidden for thousands of years. It’s remarkable that through the modern, cutting-edge technology used in this exhibition, we’re uncovering more about their lives, stories and customs.

“This will be a blockbuster exhibition, popular with kids and adults alike, and I encourage everyone to visit Sydney this summer and take a journey back in time to Ancient Egypt.”

Egyptian Mummies: Exploring Ancient Lives is supported by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
