Sullivan was most recently seen as the lead of Warner Brothers’ “300: Rise of an Empire” directed by Noam Murro in which he stars in the lead role of ‘Themistocles.’ The film opened number 1 in both the US box office and across all continents.
2013 recipient of the Australians in Film Breakthrough Award, Sullivan recently wrapped production on independent Australian film “Kill Me Three Times” starring opposite Simon Pegg, Alice Braga, and Teresa Palmer. He also recently wrapped production on the feature film “Cut Snake”, directed by Tony Ayres set to be released in 2015 – both films premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year, with “Cut Snake” receiving critical acclaim at its 2014 Melbourne International Film Festival showcase.
He can most recently be seen on the third season of the Cinemax series “Strike Back” -- a co-production of HBO/ Cinemax in which, Sullivan plays the lead role of ‘Damien Scott.’ “Strike Back” recently wrapped up production on its fourth and final season. On the big screen, Sullivan was last seen in Ruben Fleischer’s 1940s-era Warner Bros. feature “Gangster Squad,” alongside Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Anthony Mackie. But, his breakout role came from his performance in “Animal Kingdom” (directed by David Michod) alongside Guy Pearce, Joel Edgerton and Luke Ford. The film received the Sundance 2010 Grand Jury Prize for ‘World Cinema – Dramatic.’ The Australian Film Institute recognized Sullivan’s “Animal Kingdom” performance with a nomination for ‘Best Supporting Actor.’
