Sunset Lagoon Hotel |
Arriving in Cancun, I had massive expectations for this so called ‘paradise’. I had seen the photos, researched the area and been told about the unbelievably pristine water. However, I was still not prepared for my first glimpse of the actual beach defining this tourist hotspot. A long stretch of snow white sand, creating one’s own piece of paradise between the flash hotels and water as clear as crystal. Growing up I always admired pictures of the turquoise blue waters, hoping one day to discover the tranquility of this myself. Water which is so clear you can still see every grain of sand between your toes as you wade out into the ocean, mesmerized by its colour and beauty. Not only had I found this in Cancun, but also a place where I could be adventurous, party, be immersed in culture, shop, be entertained and of course relax.

lazing on the Beach |
The hardest part about relaxing was deciding where to lay and bask in the sun! I rotated myself between the pool at sunset lagoon hotel, the hammocks by the lagoon, the beds and deck chairs on the beach at Sunset Beach Resort and their pool! With relaxing ocean sounds from one area to pumping music from the beach bar in another, everyone will find their own perfect haven.
With all food and drinks inclusive in the package deal, I expected it to be hard to find a waiter when you were ready to order. However the Sunset group has attained the perfect balance of availability with friendly waiters offering their service enough that one doesn't have to go searching, without being too intrusive and disturbing your relaxation.
Lobster Anyone? |
If one finds the energy to explore Cancun a little more and participate in activities, there is a vast range of encounters to choose from. Jet-skiing, para-sailing, dolphin swims, scuba diving, snorkeling, the list is endless and all are at ridiculously cheap prices compared to what we are used to in Australia!
