Singapore Airlines Celebrates 45th Anniversary in Australia

Singapore Airlines
This month marks the 45th anniversary of Singapore Airlines' inaugural services to Perth and Sydney in April 1967. The anniversary reflects the importance Australia continues to play in Singapore Airlines' growth.

On 1 April 1967, a 707-320 touched down in Perth then Sydney marking the inauguration of Singapore-Australia services by Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA), followed immediately on 5 April by the start of MSA's DC-4 services to Perth.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Subhas Menon, said: "The introduction of our Australian services in 1967 marked a turning point for Singapore Airlines in becoming a truly international carrier. Connecting the world to Australia has been at the forefront of our growth on the global stage. This is an achievement we are immensely proud of and over the coming months, we will roll out a series of events in Perth and Sydney to thank our customers and those partners that have made our success possible."

To celebrate the first touchdown and the recent increase in capacity in Perth, KrisFlyers in Western Australia will be able to take advantage of a special bonus mile offer this week. Celebrations in Sydney will coincide with another milestone, the fifth anniversary of the inaugural A380 flight from Singapore to Sydney in October 2007.
