Yangon Art Centre under construction
A Vision for Global-Standard Arts in Myanmar

Myanmar is taking a bold step to elevate its cultural scene with the transformation of the Yangon Art Centre into an international-standard venue. According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, the upgraded facility will serve as a premier stage for performing arts, exhibitions, and entertainment, aiming to position Yangon as a hub for global artistic engagement.

The new art centre will host a wide range of performances, including film screenings, music concerts, Thabin theatre, plays, and musicals. In addition, it will provide spaces for gallery exhibitions, workshops, forums, and art talks, bringing together artists and audiences from Myanmar and around the world.

State-of-the-Art Construction and Safety Features

The Myanmar Art Centre is being constructed with international standards in mind, including earthquake resistance up to a magnitude of 8.3. The foundations of the main building and iron poles have already been installed, while the first phase of electric wiring and water piping has been completed.

These measures ensure that the facility will not only meet global technical and safety standards but also provide a modern and versatile environment for a variety of cultural and artistic events.

A Hub for Cultural Exchange and Creativity

Once completed, the Yangon Art Centre will host international cultural events, concerts, dance performances, and theatrical productions. It will also serve as a platform for gallery exhibitions, workshops, and art talks, fostering collaboration and dialogue between local and international artists.

The centre is expected to become a key attraction for both tourists and residents, enhancing Yangon’s reputation as a vibrant cultural capital in Southeast Asia. By providing world-class facilities for performing arts and visual arts, the art centre will support the growth of Myanmar’s creative industries and inspire future generations of artists.
