Thailand has once again won the prestigious ‘Destination of the Year’ title at the TTG Travel Awards 2024, adding to a trophy cabinet that is already brimming with numerous international awards and accolades the kingdom has been honoured with over the years.
Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and the South Pacific, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), received the award on behalf of Thailand at the 33rd Annual TTG Travel Awards 2024 Ceremony and Gala Dinner held last night at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre in Bangkok.
This special honour, falls under the Outstanding Achievement Awards category, is presented to the region’s most outstanding destination for taking proactive steps and initiatives to the development and promotion of the travel industry, according to the TTG Travel Awards’ criteria.
Determined by TTG’s editorial team, who is constantly at the pulse of the travel community, the ‘Destination of the Year’ award was previously presented to Thailand eight times in 1998, 2002, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2018.
As Thailand’s National Tourism Organisation (NTO), TAT had previously won a great number of TTG Travel Awards, including the “Outstanding Achievement Awards for Best Travel Marketing Effort” and “Best NTO”.
First held in 1989, the TTG Travel Awards is recognised as Asia-Pacific’s leading and longest running travel agent awards. The annual event honours stellar organisations and individuals in three categories: Travel Supplier, Travel Agency, and Outstanding Achievement.
