Experience a Japanese winter festival in an Edo Period setting in Ouchi-juku, Fukushima Prefecture

The Ouchi-juku Snow Festival is held every year on the second weekend in February. The traditional town comes alive with snow lanterns and entertainment.

Events include mochi pick-up (collecting glutinous rice cakes thrown from houses), Maruta Kiri Competition (tree sawing), traditional performing arts, a soba noodle eating competition and a firework show.

Don't forget to try the local cuisine at the various food stalls!
