Black Sabbath - The Ballet

Birmingham Royal Ballet will stage the world premiere of Black Sabbath - The Ballet at the Birmingham Hippodrome (23 to 30 September 2023) before taking in runs at Plymouth and London. 

The full-length, 3-act, ballet will have the music of Black Sabbath re-orchestrated for the Royal Ballet Sinfonia with new compositions inspired by the group also performed live by the orchestra with on stage guitars and drums integrated into the performance. 

Birmingham Royal Ballet is the UK’s leading touring ballet company performing a range of traditional, classical and heritage ballets along with ‘ground-breaking’ new works geared to encouraging choreographers of the future. 

The Royal Ballet Sinfonia, which is Birmingham Royal Ballet’s permanent orchestra. 

Black Sabbath Black Sabbath were an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. 

The group is seen as pioneers of heavy metal music and helped to helped define the genre with releases such as Black Sabbath and Paranoid. 

Birmingham Birmingham, the UK’s second city, offers many Industrial Revolutionera landmarks that speak to its 18th-century history as a manufacturing powerhouse. 

It also has a network of canals, many of which are in an around Sherborne Wharf which is lined with cafes and bars.

In the city centre, the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is known for pre-Raphaelite masterpieces.
