The Wagasa, or Japanese Oil-paper Umbrella in Japan

Cherry Blossom viewing is a not to be missed activity in Japan in spring season and enjoying the view with a sakura-shaped umbrella makes it even more unique!

The wagasa, or Japanese oil-paper umbrella, is a traditional craft that is every bit a work of art as much as a practical item for keeping the sun off your neck.

Making a sakura-shaped umbrella requires a lot of skill and effort, using three types of handmade Japanese paper.

Since these are handcrafted individually, each order can take months to fulfil, but is definitely unique to own.
