The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has published a nine-page e-supplement titled “Hong Kong Embraces New Norm of Travel”, which highlights concerted efforts by the public and private sectors in preparation for a tourism revival in the post-pandemic city.
Andrew Clark, Regional Director – Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific said that the Covid-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented challenges to the Hong Kong tourism industry and has undoubtedly reshaped the tourism landscape.
“In the post-pandemic world, we will see a shift in preference and behaviour among travellers – the public health conditions of destinations and the hygiene standards of transportations, hotels and other tourism facilities will become a top priority,” Mr Clark said.
“The booklet details the concerted efforts taking place across all of our tourism sectors to ensure Hong Kong is well equipped and prepared to welcome visitors in this new era of travel. It also highlights the important role Hong Kong's pioneering technology sector is playing in controlling and eradicating this pandemic.
“From aviation, transport and hotels to retail, F&B outlets and attractions, COVID-19 has significantly impacted all sectors and in order to ensure a fast recovery we need to draw upon all of our strengths and have a unified approach in order to restore Hong Kong to bustling global cosmopolitan hub it has long be renowned as,” he said.
