Bung Jagoi Tourism is a community-based ecotourism organisation based in Bau, Sarawak, Borneo Island of Malaysia. It is wholly managed by the local community with the objective to promote ecotourism activities in the area apart from conserving and protecting the richness of cultural heritage of the mountain village and biodiversity ecosystem surrounding the forest of Bung Jagoi.
Located on a saddle of the 1,171-feet of Mount Jagoi (about 45 km from Kuching city), Bung Jagoi village is a melting pot of cultures for the Dayak Bidayuh Jagoi-Bratak dialectal group. As the population grew and the need for more agriculture land increased, many families moved down to the surrounding foothills and eventually formed eleven Jagoi villages in Bau district. Besides, there are another five Jagoi villages in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Though this legendary mountain had provided settlement to the community, it is a place for the local to collect forest products in addition to practice shifting agriculture, it still has more than 500-hectare intact forest. It takes about one hour to reach the mountain village via jungle trail and another 15 minutes to the summit. Visitors could also experience stay in this mountain village or choose to stay with a host at the homestay located on the hill ground land. Jak mowah ke Bung Jagoi!
