Safer Together, Greater Together: Greater Palm Springs Welcomes Visitors With Destination-Wide Health & Safety Pledge

In preparation of welcoming back visitors to the popular Southern California desert region starting as soon as tomorrow, Friday, June 12, the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has launched a destination-wide health and safety pledge as well as an exciting new brand campaign. This comes on the heels of releasing the “Find Your Oasis” music destination video celebrating the area's creative community, beautiful landscapes and wide-open spaces.

To ensure visitors will be able to truly relax and feel safe throughout their stay, the CVB launched the “Greater Together, Safer Together” pledge, with Greater Palm Springs tourism businesses committing to increased health and safety protocols. The pledge has been signed by more than 200 local businesses and stakeholders including those from the hotel and resort community to restaurants such as Lulu California Bistro to attractions such as the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, among many others. Additionally, in the days and weeks ahead as the region prepares to open for business, more are expected to participate.

“We can't wait to welcome visitors back to our cities, and we want them to feel confident that our tourism partners have taken every precaution to ensure a safe and healthy stay,” said Scott White, president and CEO of the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This pledge unites our cities and our communities around that assurance, and gives us a clear benchmark for sanitation standards, which is our absolute top priority.”

The pledge is a cohesive message for local residents and out-of-town guests that hotels, restaurants, attractions and retail shops are upholding the latest standards established by the State of California and CDC. Disinfecting protocols, physical distancing guidelines and employee training guidelines among others are clearly outlined. Businesses that have signed the pledge will recognize it with badges on their websites and social media channels, so guests can feel confident at every step of the experience.

To encourage visitation once the region is available to welcome leisure travelers, the Greater Palm Springs CVB will launch an uplifting marketing campaign featuring playful “breakup” letters to their home suggesting the “need to see other spaces.”

“After spending a few months in self-quarantine, we think many people may welcome a break from their own homes to see new spaces," said Jeff Miraglia, chief creative officer of Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau. "Additionally, we know that when travel resumes, travelers are seeking places where they can enjoy nature and outdoor recreation, which our desert valley has in abundance."

Billboards, digital and print ads will be featured in “getaway” markets for the destination, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego, reminding potential visitors that the popular destination is ready to host them for their first post-quarantine journey away from home.

To further bring the community together, Greater Palm Springs also recently unveiled a new music video: a reimagined version of their song “Find Your Oasis,” which was originally released 2018. Celebrating local artists and popular attractions throughout the destination, the song celebrates the region's wide-open spaces, beautiful desert and eclectic creative community that has attracted visitors for decades.
