Visit Austria From the Comfort of Your Couch

Austria in the times of armchair travel: From streamed Vienna State Opera performances to 360° videos of hiking trails, the Austrian National Tourist Office has put together a collection of virtual experiences which bring Austria's culture and nature into Australian homes. A little inspiration of what awaits when travellers will be able to visit the “Heart of Europe” again.

In Austria as across much of the globe, tourism has been put on hiatus in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. People have been asked to stay at home and travel plans have been put on hold. Therefore, we have curated a collection of virtual journeys to help bring a piece of Austria to your readers' homes across Australia
On our website, www.austria.info/en, we have added a portal for exciting virtual experiences.

Take a virtual stroll through Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the imperial family, and explore the splendid state apartments while kicking back on the couch at home. Sit in the audience for a streaming of a Vienna State Opera performance and bring the very best of classical music into your home. Dip your toes into Lake Wörthersee in Austria's South with an interactive panorama or head up to Schafberg mountain, enjoy the views of the lake region, and recharge your batteries with a 360-degree video.

Art lovers now have the opportunity to wander through Vienna's top museums, without ever leaving the couch. You can browse the Albertina, the world's largest collection of graphic art, or visit the Belvedere galleries, particularly famous for the work of Gustav Klimt. Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum of Fine Arts) brings works by Rubens, Tizian, Rembrandt, Raffael, and Velázquez and Bruegel directly to your living room.
