From nonprofits to pro sports teams, organizations across Los Angeles are stepping up to support Angelenos in need. There are also numerous opportunities for each of us to do our part.
Battleship IOWA: USNS Mercy
The Battleship IOWA has announced that the hospital ship USNS Mercy is on its way from San Diego to the Port of Los Angeles to provide 1,000 hospital beds in support of COVID-19 response efforts. According to the press release, the Mercy will serve as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients currently admitted to shore-based hospitals, and will provide a full spectrum of medical care including general surgeries, critical care and ward care for adults. "This will allow local health professionals to focus on treating COVID-19 patients and for shore-based hospitals to use their ICUs and ventilators for those patients."

LA Sports Teams
The LA Lakers, Clippers, Kings and STAPLES Center have announced that they will join together to establish a fund that will provide financial support for more than 2,800 hourly event employees impacted by the suspension of sporting events at STAPLES Center.
Food waste was an unintended consequence of the cancellations of the NBA and NHL seasons. Thanks to quick action from the hospitality and retail strategy team at STAPLES Center, 7,000 pounds of food was donated to the Midnight Mission and Los Angeles Mission in Downtown LA.
The Los Angeles Chargers donated $250,000 to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to help ensure hunger services remain uninterrupted for the Los Angeles community.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are donating $1 million to help support gameday staff affected by the postponement of the 2020 season. The Dodgers are joining Major League Baseball's 29 other teams, who are each contributing $1 million.

THE PARK'S FINEST
Located in Historic Filipinotown, The Park's Finest stopped their takeout/delivery service and is now delivering catering trays to those on the front lines in hospitals and firehouses battling the coronavirus. FREE FOOD FOR SCHOOL KIDS
Eater LA reports that three Los Angeles restaurants are providing free food to students who depend on school programs for their lunches:

The Los Feliz location of plant-based Honeybee Burger is taking care of staff and visitors from nearby Children's Hospital and Kaiser Hollywood. Legendary LA chef Nancy Silverton has partnered with Maker's Mark to give away 300 dinners to restaurant workers in need every night at chi SPACCA from 5:30-8:30pm. The Restaurant Workers Relief Program is also giving away much-needed supplies like diapers, wipes, baby food, canned foods, TP and more.
WOLFGANG PUCK
Food & Wine reports that another LA culinary icon, Wolfgang Puck is paying every hourly and salaried worker full wages as his restaurants in LA and around the world reduce hours or temporarily close. Puck's flagship Spago Beverly Hills is offering multi-course dinners for two at cost for curbside pickup. And yes, they include the famed smoked salmon pizza.

LA native Olympia Auset founded SÜPRMARKT with the goal of providing 100% organic produce to "food deserts" in underserved communities. SÜPRMARKT recently collaborated with Slauson Girl, Growing, and The Hood Healer to present Feed The Hood. The giveaway included seeds, rice, beans, quinoa, and more to support those that don’t have the means to prepare for a potential shutdown, or whose store shelves are empty.

- Smart & Final will open from 7:30-8 a.m. for customers 65 and older and those with disabilities.
- Stater Bros. Markets - all 169 locations will open at 7:45 a.m. for seniors over 65 years old.
- Super A Foods - shopping from 7-8 a.m. reserved for those 65 and older.
- Target - first shopping hour of every Wednesday to the elderly and those with underlying health concerns.
- Vons, Albertsons and Pavilions - every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 to 9 a.m. reserved for senior citizens, pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems.
- Walmart - seniors 60 and older will have an hour of shopping every Tuesday before stores open. Walmart pharmacies and Vision Centers will also be open at this time.
- Whole Foods - all stores will be open to customers 60 and older one hour before opening to the general public.

Netflix - Variety reports that Netflix has created a $100-million relief fund to help members of the creative community who have been left unemployed and without a way to earn an income during the coronavirus pandemic. The bulk of the funds will go toward supporting laid-off crew members.
Alamo Drafthouse - The alternative movie theatre chain has closed all 40 locations, including The Bloc in Downtown LA. According to Variety, Alamo has established a $2 million emergency relief fund for staff members who were furloughed.
MUSIC

Eligible music professionals (at least five years of employment in the music industry, or six commercially released recordings or videos) can apply for relief funds on the MusiCares website. Proof of cancelled gigs due to coronavirus precautionary measures will be required to apply.
- Musically Fed - LA-based nonprofit is donating food meant for events at STAPLES Center to the local Midnight Mission and Los Angeles Mission.
- Music Fund of Los Angeles - Established the Coronavirus Emergency Relief Fund for LA-based members of the American Federation of Musicians who have lost revenue due to work stoppages. Members may submit an application for up to two service sets lost, in the amount of $75 per service set, for a maximum total of $150.

DCAThe Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) has compiled a list of Art Resources During COVID-19. The list includes artist resources, educational resources for kids and teens, and online art experiences like the Hollyhock House Virtual Tour.
DR. WOO
Renowned tattoo artist Dr. Woo announced on his IGTV channel that he is donating 100% of proceeds of his new WOO Soap - originally developed for daily skincare and tattoo recovery - to Baby2Baby, an LA-based nonprofit that provides children living in poverty with diapers, clothing and basic necessities.
GETTY CENTER
The Getty Center donated thousands of gloves and hundreds of masks to their neighbors at UCLA Health: "We're so grateful to those laboring tirelessly to care for our community during the coronavirus outbreak. Thank you."
THE BROAD
In a Facebook post, The Broad shared a photo of their donation to Good Samaritan Hospital: 158 boxes of nitrile gloves, 90 N95 masks and 200 pairs of booties. "Normally, these help us safely install art; today we offer them to help protect healthcare workers selflessly risking their safety to help others and save lives."
