This plan would be implemented when the renovation of the bridge is complete late this year.
The landmark bridge would be closed on Saturday and Sunday nights to create an area for residents and visitors to walk and admire the beauty of the romantic Huong River at night.
Constructed in 1897 and finished two years later during the reign of King Thanh Thai, the 400-meter bridge was designed by French architect Gustave Eiffel. It is considered a symbol of the former imperial capital.
The city is making effort to lure more international visitors. It has recently approved a plan to turn the backpacker quarter surrounded by Pham Ngu Lao, Chu Van An and Vo Thi Sau streets in Phu Hoi Ward into a pedestrian-only area on weekend nights, Vnexpress reports.
Meanwhile, the Hue Imperial Citadel, one of seven leading tourist destinations of Viet Nam in 2017, is open to the public from 7p.m. to 10p.m. daily from late April to September 20.
