Prehistoric Garden Week at the Australian National Botanic Gardens

For nine days only discover life-sized dinosaurs and plant fossils amongst the flora and landscapes they once inhabited. Enjoy an array of events including talks, specialised night tours, public open nights and more.

DAILY ACTIVITIES

SELF GUIDED TRAIL

FREE during normal Garden opening hours
To ensure you don’t get lost or miss any of the dinosaurs, pick up your trail activity booklet and map from the Visitor Centre and set out through the Gardens. Trail starts at the T-Rex and Tyrannosuar ‘face off’.

DINOSAUR CRAFT

FREE
Puzzles, games and colouring activities from 9.30 am – 4.30 pm daily in the Visitor Centre

Tuesday 5 & Thursday 7 July @ 2.00 pm | FREE | BOOKINGS REQUIRED Learn more about the fossils that roamed our continent in a fascinating one hour ‘show and tell’ by staff of the National Dinosaur Museum. Bookings required. Suitable for ages 5 years +

NIGHTIME TOURS AND EVENTS
DINO STAKEOUT – PUBLIC OPEN NIGHTS
Saturdays 2 & 9 July 6.30 pm - 8.30 pm | $7.50 adults, $5.50 conc/child
Experience prehistoric creatures lurking after dark when we illuminate the Gardens for night viewing. Wander through the various habitats and displays at your own leisure and conclude your evening with ‘dinosaur tales’ shared by National Dinosaur Museum staff in the Red Centre Garden.

GONDWANA NIGHT TOURS

Friday 1, Wednesday 6 and Friday 8 July @ 6.30 pm | $22pp These premium night tours will be led by both National Dinosaur Museum and Gardens staff who will share their knowledge of the ancient fossils of Gondwana including what they reveal about the distribution patterns of living organisms from which our modern native plants and animals evolved. Bookings essential for these 90 minute tours. Minimum participant age 8 years.
